Next Steps
Video Editing:
Add video of person interacting with interface
Connections (confusing - give example)
Clue that its a photo (frame, time stampe)
Integrate date into
Voices(more cross talk
Check audio levels
synchronize about logo with talking
Add room number information
Due date: next tues along with script to Petrillo's office
Interface:
emotions need to stand out (more weight, diff color)
image analysis images justified left and right based on location
more movement to the thing
maybe do some more data visualization
talk to tong about archiving everything
Due date: talking to tong about the archive
In database, some photos' cat was changed - this caused the photos to no longer appear (the photo has to be physically moved or copied to the new cat folder (for example photos/data/539).
Because we don't want blanks in the interface, i moved those photos out of the emotion cat into one not being used (500). Search for photos with cat 500 and you'll see those currently without images in the proper folder.
If possible, let's try and make sure those photos are put back in correct corresponding cat (so for example, we want to make sure that an id of photo in aggressiveness cat (535) has that corresponding photo in photos/data/535.
develop positioning for larger plasma screens display (3000 x 2268)
positioning for 1028 x 768

Goals for this week
revised thesis question: In what ways can a web-based art project utilizing user generated content (and web2.0 something or other) provide us with a visual snapshot of the collective emotional landscape at this moment in time?
Laura: interface design and flip animation for individual swf
Hernandez: zoom interaction based on existing 3D world
Jerry: propose polling database structure, mockup of tag animation for individual swf
Catherine: pulling in database information into swf (emotion, photographer name, desc, qbve, color)
overview of user experience:
- homepage has 16 images arranged on plutchik flower
- swyf logo, info on swyf and uploading choices are in center of flower
- click on image to zoom in
- flip photo to see: emotion, photographer, desc, vote, qbve, color
Thesis, Thesis, Never more
What are the ways in which a web-based art project that incorporates image analysis and information management, help
us better understand how students in the US depict emotions photographically?
So what? Because this data (color and composition) will prove valuable for multimedia designers targeting teenager (student) audience. Also (infomration management) to shape and steer web developments by informed design. Why teenage audience? It supports the data that we have accumlated so far.
What worries me about "...emerge cross cultures" in our paper, is not everyone in every country has a digital camera or internet access. Unless we state industrial countries and we have case studies or data that supports x amount of students in these countries have access to a digital camera and/or internet access.
Thesis Question
What are thye ways... symbolic content, participiant viewers.
Animated Tag Clouds
This site shows some cool data-visualization that might work for our site.
